16th March 2019:
A late winner from player/coach Scott Cordon away at Oxton sealed the club’s place in the National League next season for the very first time with two games to spare. For the second week in a row they made it hard for themselves, falling 2-0 behind and missing a first half penalty stroke to trail at the interval. Two goals from Richard Hayward levelled the scores, before Oxton struck a third. Another equaliser, this time from striker James Eplett, set up a grandstand finish with Scott Cordon securing a 4-3 win with just minutes to spare.
This capped a meteoric rise for the 1st team from North Div 2(W) to National League in just five seasons and ensured the club will line up in the Conference North in the 2019/20 season for the very first time.
Captain Richard Hayward said:
“It’s been an unbelievable journey both for the team and the club as a whole, involving plenty of re-setting of goals such was the pace of change. It’s the club’s success – so many people have contributed over the past five years and beyond and it’s great that everyone can celebrate the rewards. Now we’re focused on establishing ourselves as a National League club.”
