Men's 7's eagerly await second leg of the UOM series

In a search for finding a team to play on the 22nd on the final hour of reckoning before the looming "intraclub" option stroke the uni students of Manchester downed their study pens to pick up their hockey pitch. For Patrick Curran of Men's 7s this was a derby match to play the team he used to captain himself, as well as a game for Douglas vs his fellow students many whom he played against in a university tournament the week previous

The game started with a change to the 4-5-1 with Didsbury opting for a 4-4-2 with lots of players wanting a run out up top as well as the captain
declaring they "Had a *rubbish* week so going to throw myself up top". In the first half at times the team got broken on down the middle too much so went back to the trusty 4-5-1 in the second half

The game started with UOM not having a keeper for the first 5 minutes of the match as the kit arrived late... Didsbury could not find the shot off to make the opposition pay.

The game itself was quite even, and albeit Didsbury having to fight with their striker turned umpire who was "quite impressive really" including dishing out two greens in a row and 3 in total to Didsbury, one for someone just shouting "NOOO" Didsbury probably had the better of the chances, unmet crosses into the box and two 1v1s the draw was not particularly a bad result.

The Didsbury team will hope with their main striker up top they can get the goal to win their first game since preseason , while UOM will likely fancy their chances with a full selection of players post exams and Didsbury's rock at the back Rob unavailable. It has all the makings of a classic this one.
