Second half performance inspires hope for the season ahead

After Didsbury's cancelled preseason game last weekend it was the first competitive match after a long some off hockey. After going going to close to 11 players, with late recruits a squad of SIXTEEN made there way to bury. With first appearances for Joe and Chirs, the latter fresh from the end of a season at Adelaide HC.

After a minutes silence that was held, the game got underway; with bury starting the stronger with good runs and being let off the hook a good few times with lazy finishing, some great last ditch challenges from the defenders and some quality saves from Jacques.

After 20 minutes it was 2-0 down with the 3rd coming 5 minutes later, owing much to poor timing of attempts to make a defensive substitution.

Didsbury started to grow into the game and creating chances.

After a rousing team talk .. where the captain let Tim do all the talking... the second half instantly started much better, with more precise passes and communication almost instantly leading to a goal.

As the game went on MOTM Victor came back on and really started to grow into the game, leading attacking and leaving the defenders spinning.

The best opportunities for the Didsbury goal With two great opportunities in the second half, one from a victor run with a pass back to Mark for a reverse pass into Josh and a few shots/saves and nearmisses from new man Chris.

MOTM was given and well deserved to victor with honorable mentions to rob, chris, and david D who received votes.

Joker vote: Had to go to Dave L for another green card for chatting to umpires which was upgraded to a yellow after saying "he was going anyway" which he was so was given yellow for "being a n*b" .

Honourable mentions go to Mike for joker for wearing his shorts the wrong way round, and to Jack for saying he "Wasn't watching the game"

A good game and one that will help the 7's mature into the new league with the requirements for more running and quicker decision making
