A home away from home as the rain poured down as it had the last 2 weeks the 7s were jubilant the fact they weren't on Pitch A at the armitage again; surely a puddle at this stage. Players arrived early prepared and ready to go; a squad that could've been completely changed with 6s and comrade chopper being turned away.
The first half was as they say "a washout". Didsbury seemingly emulating the playing of England rugby in the morning; forgetting the basics that got them draws against brooklands and in the game at the top sides in the League.
In the last minute of the first half; didsburys soldier at centre back, fearless at throwing his body in the line of sticks and shots got hit one too much.. crys of why were we on 18 players on Thursday evening to only having 14 as comrade would've been the perfect sub! An unamed midfielder moved to makeshift centre half.
The now customary telling off from Tim at HT doesn't intitally make too much improvement. The good dissbury push back attack nearly undone by 5 mins of madness with that unamed cb absolutely fluffing free hits and 16s saves from Jack and the opposition fluffing great chances. A green card to the other cb finally kick starts the team into shape! The defensive shape allowing nothing through and when back to full compliment it's wave after wave of attacks! Alfie running and terrorising the right back , the right back picking up 2 green cards and another player a green.
From numerous short corners the ball squirmed to Patrick to sneak in. The team jubilant of someone other than Tim scoring, hoping Patrick won't gloat all through teas afterwards.
The pressure was kept on until 10 mins from time a brilliant pass and move from the opposition on a counter tore through the team and a Quickfire double soon after to make it 4.
Motm was close with Patrick edging Alfie ; DOD went in classic fashion to Dave Devine for turning up for an event after the match wearing a bandana to cover up "Dave" written on his forehead.
